11/16/2022 0 Comments App critical test backup exec![]() ![]() There's no critical security requirements : It is installed on a local network.Īt first I tested a dockerized version () with Docker Desktop / WSL2. At the moment, the jobs run perfectly if I restart the Backup Exec services between each job although, as you will agree, this is hardly the preferred option for what should be an automated system.I have to install iTop 2.7.1 for a client on a Windows 10 pro machine for a very basic usage (just ticketing, no customization at all). However, after restarting the Backup Exec services, the same job runs without issue.although each consequent job fails to the same error. As soon as any of the next scheduled jobs run, BE states the drive is offline and the relevant job fails. Some state the problem to be centered around the use of a raid controller used to connect to the tape library, however, I find this a little hard to believe, as the raid controller mentioned above has no hard drives connected to it and is tasked with the sole purpose of linking the server to the tape library via one of it's SAS ports.Īs mentioned, the 'first' jobs run fine and without issue. I've been through every Symantec document I can find which relates to this issue, with no positive effect. Of course, the device isn't actually offline, is cabled correctly, and connecting to the tape library directly via web-interface proves this. These jobs (on their own) run absolutely fine, however, every subsequent job fails due to a device error stating that the "drive hardware is offline". The server is responsible for full backups of the entire production server environment over the weekends (eight VMware machines (Windows Server 2008R2) in total), a full backup of critical data from all servers during the evenings, and a differential backup of the day's critical data from all servers during the afternoon. ![]() ![]() We currently utilise Backup Exec 2010R3 (running on Windows Server 2008R2 - Dell PowerEdge R610 with 2x Intel Xeons, and 32GB RAM) connected to a Dell PowerVault 124T tape library via a PERC 800 adaptor and SAS cable as our backup solution. Wonder if anyone out there is able to shed a little light on my recent hurdles with Backup Exec 2010, or if anyone has had any similar experiences. ![]()
